We have teased it enough. The time has come to announce it publicly.
We are currently prototyping a swarm of cheap sensing devices to be deployed en-masse in forests, to provide accurate real-time measurements of forest dynamics.
Recent research has shown us that forests are more akin to a highly dynamical super-organisms than mere collections of trees1. Our goal is to tap into these complex internal dynamics and extract precise, real-time information to help the forest prosper2. We will provide forest managers with a platform to monitor and predict these dynamics, integrating expert knowledge to assist them in making the right decision at the right time.
Increasing forest cover is key to our continued thriving on this planet, with the potential to cut the atmospheric CO2 pool by up to 25%. However, due to climate change and human short-sightedness, forests are actually shrinking, with possibly catastrophic consequences3. With this project we aim to take better care of our forests, and thus better care of our future.
